This file is README.1ST. It contains information about
WaveSong and how to install it. Please read this file
first!
WaveSong is not free.
If you obtained this program on a try-before-buy basis,
be aware that if you continue to use this program, you
MUST register within thirty days of use.
WaveSong is a nature-sound generator program for
Windows 95, using the digital sound output capabilities of
your sound card. Sounds produced include: thunder,
crickets, waves, rain, and wind. This application
is useful for generating soothing background sounds
to mask out unwanted noise and to promote relaxation.
I. Distribution Files
------------------------
You may have received WaveSong in one of two forms:
A) You have the program in the form of .ZIP file,
WAVSNG22.ZIP
from a bulletin board, Internet, CDROM, etc. You
should know how to unzip the file with PKUNZIP.EXE.
B) You have a floppy disk with several files, most in
compressed format.
If you have (A), please make sure the ZIP files are unzipped
in a single directory before installation.
II. Installing WaveSong
---------------------------
The WaveSong file set includes a program named SETUP.EXE
used for installation.
If your distibution files are on a floppy disk in drive A:
1) Click on the "Start" button on the taskbar.
2) Click on the "Run..." item in pop-up menu.
3) In the command box type
A:\SETUP
(If your floppy drive is different than A:,
substitute the appropriate name.)
4) Click on OK
(If you unzipped the zipped file into a temporary directory, for
instance, C:\TMP, then do the same but with the command
C:\TMP\SETUP )
The setup program will ask you where you want WaveSong installed.
You may install it anywhere, but we suggest using a separate new
directory to keep WaveSong files separate from other programs.
III. Getting started
----------------------
After installation, go ahead and click the Play button. Listen
for sound output and adjust the Volume slider control.
If you don't hear any sounds, try these steps:
Use another Windows application, such as Media Player which comes with
Windows, to play a .WAV file. If you don't hear any sounds,
chances are your sound card is not set up correctly. Refer to your
sound card documentation. Also, double-click on the speaker icon
on the taskbar to bring up the Windows mixer controls and adjust volumes
as needed.
